Bartolome Island tour itinerary
How do you get to Bartolome Island?
A bus will pick you up at your accommodation or meeting point at 06:00 or 07:00 a.m. From Puerto
Ayora (Santa Cruz Island) you will travel to the Itabaca Canal on a land trip of about 40
minutes.
When you arrive at the Canal, you will board a yacht to sail for approximately 2 hours to
Bartolome.
What activities are carried out?
On this tour you can:
• Take pictures
• Trail walk (80%)
• Snorkel (20%)
Trail walk
Level of difficulty: Moderate.
When you arrive in Bartolomé, you will begin a trail walk to the upper part of the island,
one of the most iconic and photogenic experiences in Galapagos. The path includes a wooden
staircase of 372 steps (114 meters high). As you ascend, you'll cross a volcanic landscape
with solidified lava, cinder cones and unique formations.
Photography
From the viewpoint you'll enjoy a spectacular view of the twin bays, Santiago Island and, of
course, the famous Pinnacle, a sharp rock formation surrounded by golden beaches and turquoise
waters.
A photo here is a must!
Snorkeling
The activity may take place at Playa Dorada, Sullivan Bay, Sombrero Chino or another site
designated by the captain.
You'll be able to explore crystal-clear waters filled with marine life in an incomparable
volcanic environment. When you dive, you'll observe sea turtles, whitetip reef sharks,
tropical fish and, between June and December, penguins (Spheniscus mendiculus), thanks to
the cold Humboldt current.
