There, you can also admire many other species such as the blue-footed boobies, the Galapagos hawks, Nazca boobies, and marine iguanas. This small island has an area of 60 km and is one of the oldest in the archipelago.

Espanola Island tour itinerary

The trip starts at 07:20 am and the meeting point is the pier called “Acuario” on San Cristóbal Island aboard. From there, a boat that will take you on a journey that lasts approximately 2 hours to the beautiful island of Espanola.
- The landing on the island is wet; which means you have to take a smaller boat to get to the shore.

On this island, you can see one of the most colorful marine iguanas in the Galapagos, with an unique and characteristic red color. They like to rest on the sand or sunbathe on the rocks

The first visiting point is Punta Suarez or Punta Cevallos, where the largest seabirds in the world are found: the waved albatrosses. With a wingspan of approximately 3 meters, they can easily glide at 90 km per hour, they nest on volcanic rocks and can live up to 80 years.

When can I see albatrosses?

- Albatrosses can be observed during the mating seasons, from April to August.
- From the months of September to December, only chicks can me seen: their parents go out fishing to provide them with food.
- From January to March, you cannot spot albatrosses as they are migratory birds and return in April.

Along the trail on Espanola, you can see several birds such as blue-footed boobies, Nazca boobies, the Galapagos hawks, mockingbirds, pelicans, and lava lizards. On the beach, you will observe sea lions.

After this spectacular walk through Punta Suarez or Punta Cevallos, you will sail to Gardner Islet or Manzanillo beach, where you can rest and go snorkeling.
- Return to San Cristóbal Island around 4:00 p.m.
