Information about Isabela Island: Located west of Santa Cruz Island. Isabela is the largest island in the Galapagos archipelago, measuring more than 120 km in length and covering approximately 4,586 km². Its characteristic seahorse shape is due to the union of six volcanoes: Wolf, Darwin, Alcedo, Sierra Negra, Cerro Azul, and Ecuador (the only one currently inactive). Isabela is the archipelago's most active volcanic island and one of the best places to learn about the geological history of the Galápagos.
